My interest in soccer began as a 5-year old participating in the "Indoor Soccer Program" at the Rome, Georgia YMCA. What a great way to start soccer - kicking the ball off the walls! However, my passion for soccer developed as a 9th Grade Freshman at Rome High School. The conditioning, the skills, and the comradery of friends met all of my needs! I played the positions of “striker” and “half-back/mid-field” all four years for the Lady Wolves at RHS. Our team won Regionals every year and we competed in the Regional Finals toward State Playoffs. While I played Varsity Soccer at RHS, I was also a member of the Rome Arsenal Club Soccer. I was fortunate to receive a scholarship to play at the college level at Truett-McConnell College in Cleveland, Georgia. My Sophomore year, I was chosen Defensive Player of the Year and was co-team captain of the Lady Danes. I transferred to Valdosta State University, Valdosta, Georgia where I participated in intramural (both co-ed and all girl) soccer. As I reminisce about my soccer experience, I have such fond memories of all the games and "road trips"… I must truly say, "I met my husband at college but I found my bridesmaids on the soccer fields".
I look forward to the challenge of establishing Canton Academy's Lady Panthers Soccer Program. We may lose some but I am very optimistic we will win some, too…however, I know we will develop lifelong memories and friendships.
GO LADY PANTHERS!
